Proposals for addressing sexual violence in Victoria.

SASVic invited victim survivors of sexual violence and the broader community to put forward proposals for policy change, including proposals relating to victim survivor rights and the prevention of sexual violence in Victoria. The platform closed on Thursday 28 May 2026. Submitted proposals will now be reviewed by a panel of victim survivors, who will together select one proposal to bring to SASVic

The perpetration of sexual violence is widespread and has wide-ranging and reaching impacts. We recognise the deep harms that can be caused to victim survivors as well as to their family and communities. Sexual violence presents in both obvious and insidious ways and many people in our community may be impacted by it at some point during their lives. For example, it can be a significant cause of concern for people who have not been subjected to serious sexual violence themselves, but who worry about their own safety or that of their children and others they care for and about. Fear for their personal safety particularly shapes the lives of women and girls. Sexual violence can also impact the lives and wellbeing of the family and friends of those who perpetrate sexual violence.

This is why we recognise the wisdom of victim survivors and the broader community in identifying proposals for addressing, preventing and ending sexual violence in Victoria. Proposal submissions closed on Thursday 28 May 2026, SASVic would like to thank everyone who contributed a proposal.
