Better Education for Students
Proposal Summary
Students of all genders need to be aware of their own rights and those of others.
We must teach children—early and clearly—what rape is, what consent truly means, and how to recognize manipulation. Because silence isn’t consent. Compliance isn’t agreement. And saying “no” over and over should never be ignored.
I was raped. It took me 30 years to understand that what happened to me was not my fault. I didn’t fight back—but I said “no” more times than I can count. I was manipulated into believing it was consensual, even something I should feel grateful for. Instead, I felt confused, used, and ashamed. For decades, I carried the weight of that lie.
This is why education matters. When children are taught about bodily autonomy, boundaries, and the power of their voice, they are better equipped to recognize abuse and speak out. They learn that their “no” is enough. That their discomfort is valid. That they deserve safety, respect, and truth.
We can’t undo the past—but we can prevent future harm. Let’s give children the language, the knowledge, and the confidence to protect themselves and others. Because every child deserves to grow up knowing they are worthy of safety—and that no one has the right to take it from them.
